Design
To get a website on the internet you need three things; a fully functioning website, a domain name and web hosting.
Web design is quite often a once off cost, unless you require further modifications down the track.
Your domain name and web hosting are on going fees which everyone has to pay. Your domain is registered for at least 12 months, once you own your domain you own all rights to use it how you wish. At the end of the 12 months you can choose to register it for an additional 12 months and continue doing so until you wish to discontinue your website.
Web hosting is also paid every year but the cost will vary depending on how much use your website gets. If you have a lot of content and receive a lot of visitors, then you may have to go onto a higher plan. You can view the hosting plans here.
Web design costs
- $100 per page or $60 per hour*
- $10 to $50 per stock image used
- $60 per hour for future alterations
*Depending on the size of your website, the rate can be charged either per page or per hour.
Domain name and web hosting costs
- $120 per year for basic web hosting
- $60 every 2 years for a .com.au or .net.au domain name
- Or $30 per year for a .com or .net domain name
What you get
- CD containing the website and any other files used
- Basic tuition on editing the site yourself
- All the copyrights for the site and its design
- No contracts or obligations
- Search engine optimization
Details
Final pricing depends on the design of the site, what sort of features it has as well as the size. Generally I recommend a site that has between 3 and 6 pages of content. This tends to give the end user of the site something that is interesting without overwhelming them with too much information.Each $100 page equals approximately 2 hours work depending on the site. If excessive modifications are required to the design, extra hourly charges may apply at my standard rate of $40 per hour.
